Connex Clinical Surveillance allows clinicians to proactively view patient status 24/7, helping them to respond earlier than with most traditional methods used today on medical/surgical floors. The Connex System integrates into your hospital’s network infrastructure for ease of deployment, and builds on your existing vital signs workflow to give clinicians immediate access to the critical data they need to help keep their patients safer than ever before.

Depending on your patient population, you choose the level of surveillance that matches your needs then deploy them bed-by-bed or floor-by-floor. The Connex® Vital Signs Monitor (VSM) can be configured as a simple spot-check device or a spot-check and continuous monitor, measuring pulse rate, continuous pulse oximetry and temperature.

In addition, the Connex VSM can be configured with additional technology to help improve or reduce:

  EMR DOCUMENTATION

Patient vitals are sent directly from the bedside to the electronic medical record (EMR), giving clinicians immediate access to accurate patient vitals information to make informed patient care decisions, while also helping to reduce transcription errors and the time spent manually entering patient vitals.

Industry-leading technologies allow for the continuous monitoring of a patient’s comprehensive respiratory and vital signs status, helping clinicians to quickly recognize respiratory distress and respond earlier to signs of patient deterioration.

  • Covidien capnography (etCO2) allows clinicians to measure breath-to-breath ventilatory status
  • Masimo Acoustic Respiration (RRa) allows clinicians to noninvasively and continuously assess patient respiration rate
  • EarlySense contact-free sensing provides trended respiration and heart rate
  • Continuous pulse oximetry (SpO2) alerts clinicians to desaturation patterns indicative of repetitive reductions in airflow, helping to improve patient safety

  EARLY DETECTION

EarlySense technology measures continuous pulse rate, respiration rate, and motion levels with a contact-free under-mattress sensor, providing early warning of patient deterioration, while reducing the need for leads and wires. Features patient turn reminders and bed exit alerts to help clinicians respond to and document patient status, while helping to avoid safety issues like falls and pressure ulcers.
